OGSSI Membership

As per the Medical Council of India's Code of Ethics Regulations 2002, 1.2.2, every doctor is expected to affiliate with associations and societies of the Allopathic Medical profession and actively participate in their functioning for the advancement of the profession. In keeping with this, every Obstetrician & Gynaecologist of Chennai and its suburbs is encouraged to become a member of OGSSI, which currently has over 1,200 members.

As an OGSSI member, you become part of an Elite Professional organization that has successfully completed its Platinum Jubilee. The society has made a strong presence felt in the National arena, thanks to its dedicated team that gets democratically elected year after year. OGSSI provides a platform for members to update their knowledge and skills in this ever-growing field, with Consensus and Controversies in the challenging era discussed periodically.

Monthly Clinical Engagement

You can attend clinical meetings held every month, staying connected with fellow members and sharing in the Society's academic life throughout the year.

Present at Major Forums

You can present scientific papers at clinical meetings, annual meetings, zonal meetings like South Zone Yuva FOGSI, and FOGSI meetings such as AICOG, AOFOG, and FIGO.

These points count towards the FICOG Degree, conferred by ICOG, FOGSI's academic wing; more details are available on the FOGSI website.

Community & Outreach

OGSSI offers members a friendly, open platform to bring out their best — not only in academics and research, but also in extracurricular activities like community outreach programmes, CMEs, and socially relevant workshops. Interested members are welcome to join hands with OGSSI to conduct Awareness Programs and Health Camps pertaining to:

  • Healthy & Safe Motherhood

  • Cancer Awareness

  • Contraception

  • Adolescent Health (school, college, and community-based)

  • Environment & Medico-legal issues

Information regarding awareness programs is shared in all OGSSI Groups.

If an OGSSI member is active in another professional body, they may initiate joint workshops or awareness programmes involving OGSSI EC members. The OGSSI banner may be used only after due permission from the OGSSI EC. OGSSI members (other than Postgraduates) renewing their FOGSI subscription — either annually or once in ten years — automatically become part of TNFOG (Tamilnadu Federation of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists).
