Dr A Jaishree Gajaraj Endowment Oration

The Dr A Jaishree Gajaraj Endowment Oration was instituted in 2020 as an endowment from Dr A Jaishree Gajaraj, Obstetrician & Gynaecologist, Chennai. It is delivered annually at the Thalir-YUVA OGSSI Conference.


Yuva OGSSI was also initiated in 2020 to encourage the younger group of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists within OGSSI, modelled on the lines of Yuva FOGSI — a popular annual academic program. The aim of instituting this Oration was to provide an opportunity for upcoming younger Obstetricians & Gynaecologists to showcase their talent in clinical work, research, and presentation skills.


Selection Process

Nominations for the award of the Oration are called for ahead of the Annual Thalir-Yuva OGSSI Conference. A suitable Orator is chosen from amongst the applications received, by a designated committee.


Rules for Applying

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Age: Candidates should not have completed 40 years of age as on 1st October of that year

  2. Should be a Life Member of OGSSI

  3. Should hold MS/ MD/ DNB (ObGyn), eligible for registration by the National Medical Council, or MRCOG, or American Board Certification in ObGyn

  4. Candidates can be a private practitioner or working in a teaching institution/Deemed University

  5. The topic chosen can be:

    • Original Research work, or

    • Analysis of data, or

    • Candidate's perceptions/recommendations that may impact management pertaining to the practice of ObGyn

  6. A Justification for submission of this oration, in not more than 150 words, must be submitted online along with the application as a soft copy

  7. An Abstract of the proposed Oration, in not more than 350 words, must also be submitted online along with the application as a soft copy


Assessment Criteria: Applications will be assessed and scored by a designated Committee on the following points:

  • Topic chosen — relevance to the prevailing ObGyn practice at that time

  • Original research work carried out within 5 years of the date of application

  • Bio data

  • Free papers/Posters presented at State or National level Conferences

  • Awards and Prizes won


Timeline

  • Last date of submission of application: 31st August (by mail)

  • Candidates informed: by mail/phone call by 10th September

  • Presentation judged: on a specified day in October, by a designated Team including the President of the year

  • Selected Orator informed: by mail and phone call within 48 hours of the presentation/judging

How to Apply

Fill up the application form, and send it with all necessary attachments (including the soft copies of the Justification and Abstract documents), on or before 31st August.
